PPP leader Mustafa Khar decides to join PTI

LAHORE: A prominent politician of Pakistan Peoples Party, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, has decided to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, putting an end to his decades long association with the party.

While talking to Geo News over the phone, Mustafa Khar confirmed his decision, saying he will announce his defection in his meeting with PTI Chairperson Imran Khan.
Mustafa Khar, who is also the former governor of Punjab, said he is getting a platform to voice his political views after a very long time.

He has spoken to PTI Secretary General Jehangir Tareen and another party leader, Ishaq Khakwani, the former governor said.

Khar one of the founding members of PPP joined the party in the late 1960s as a close friend and political ally of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Mustafa Khar was married to an author and activist, Tehmina Durrani, who is now the wife of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In her tell-all book, My Feudal Lord, published in 1991 Durrani wrote about her troubled marriage with Mustafa Khar.

His son Bilal Khar was accused of throwing acid on his wife Fakhra Younus, who later committed suicide. However, Bilal Khar continued to deny that he bore any responsibility for her death, reported The Telegraph.
