Woman rescued, alleged kidnappers arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: A woman was rescued, while her alleged kidnappers were arrested from Mobina Town in the city on Monday night.

While talking to the media, the rescued woman accused Anas of trapping her in the name of love. Later, she said, they threatened of killing her brother if she would not go with them. "That is why I went with them," she said. 

"He had kept me locked in the room [of a house]." 

However, Anas said him and the woman wanted to marry each other.  

According to the Shahra-e-Faisal police, they raided the spot, acting on a tip-off and rescued the woman who was kidnapped two days ago. The police also arrested two alleged kidnappers, Anas and Aslam. 

A case was registered against Anas and Aslam and search was started for their accomplice. 

Meanwhile, in Darakshan, police arrested three persons, including a drug dealer.  

Kidnappings and killings in the name of 'love' are not uncommon.

Last year, a woman and her 'lover' reportedly planned to murder her family after they refused to their marriage.

The police had recovered two bodies from a house in Shah Faisal Chowk. 

The bodies of the women aged 30 and 35 were identified as that of Sumbul and Sadaf. The main accused, Anees, wanted to marry Sumbul’s sister Faheema.

“I had been in love with her for the last six years,” Anees, who was in police custody, told Geo News. “But Faheema’s family did not accept the marriage proposal.” 

The couple planned to murder the entire family of four so that they could get married. “We planned to kill Faheema’s father, brother, sister and sister-in-law.”

The accused said he bought sleeping pills from a shop and gave them to Faheema. She poisoned their food. “Within half an hour they were all fast asleep,” Anees said.

Faheema called Anees at their house at 3 AM, he had said.

“She placed a pillow on her sister’s face while I held down her legs. Then Faheema used a knife to slit her throat,” he said.

They killed her sister-in-law the same way. However, the father could not be killed as he woke up from his sleep.

Anees escaped and hid in a water tank near his house, where the police later found him.

Faheema was also arrested.

Woman injured, murder footage obtained 

In a separate incident, a woman was injured when she resisted a robbery attempt near Johar Intersection.
