Resignation only option for Nawaz, says Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had no any other option than stepping down from his office, informed sources.

While chairing a meeting of party leaders and his legal team to discuss the Supreme Court reserving its judgment in the Panama Papers case, Khan said that the party won't let Nawaz create any undemocratic crisis in the country. 

The meeting was attended by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahanghir Tareen, Naeemul Haq, Arif Alvi, Shafqat Mahmood and Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed.

Earlier, the Supreme Court while reserving its judgment in the Panama Papers case observed that matters related to the prime minister’s disqualification would be evaluated. During the hearing, the bench also directed for the confidential Volume X of the JIT report to be made available to the premier’s counsel.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also chaired a meeting which was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, advisers and the legal team.

it was also decided during the meeting that the party will accept the Supreme Court`s verdict even if it is unfavourable. 

According to sources, it was also decided during the meeting that the party will utilise all legal and constitutional options available if the verdict goes against the premier.
