ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team's (JIT) Volume X has details of letters and questions sent to different countries to enquire about the assets of Sharif family, sources informed Geo News on Friday.

Letters were also sent to Switzerland and Luxembourg, seeking details of properties connected with the Sharif family – governments of the two countries were contacted.

Since Volume X of the report states laundered money was transferred to Switzerland from Britain — as per the Federal Investigation Agency's enquiry — JIT wrote two letters to the central authority of Switzerland, seeking transaction records of amount transferred from Britain.

Besides, volume 10 contains seven letters that were written to the British government regarding details of properties owned by Hassan and Hussain Nawaz in Britain. However, the British government has not responded to any of the seven letters.

JIT also wrote a letter to the prosecutor general of Luxembourg, asking for details of the properties owned by the Sharif family, but has got no response from there either.

Other countries that were contacted during the Panama Papers investigation include Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the British Virgin Islands, sources added.

Countries which did not answer the JIT's enquiries include Switzerland, Luxembourg, UK and Saudi Arabia.

The JIT had requested to keep Volume X under wraps till replies were received from all countries.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, during Friday's Panama Papers hearing, remarked that Volume X will not be shown to anyone yet as a number of issues will become clear after reading its content.

The apex court bench also directed for the confidential Volume X of the JIT report to be made available to the premier's counsel, Khawaja Harris. The judges said they wanted to keep everything transparent.

Volume X was kept confidential when the JIT submitted its final report. The JIT had asked the Supreme Court not to make the volume public as it contained material related to ongoing international cooperation in the investigation against the Sharif family.
