KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday that his party was waiting for the Supreme Court verdict but the JIT report had proven that corruption had taken place.

Bilawal spoke to party workers here following the inauguration of the Drigh Road underpass.

“Apart from corruption they have committed perjury, forgery and attempts to subvert justice,” Bilawal said in a clear reference to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.

The PPP chairman said his party was “hopeful that the Supreme Court would provide justice and remove them.”

On Friday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan reserved its judgment in the Panama Papers implementation case with the bench observing that matters related to the prime minister’s disqualification would be evaluated.

The PPP is expected to announce its future course of action after the verdict of the Supreme Court.

National Assembly Opposition Leader, Khursheed Shah has called upon Nawaz Sharif to make a decision regarding his resignation from the post of Prime Minister by Saturday night and select a new premier from the PML-N. Shah has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democracy by stating that PPP wants Parliament to continue working and the PML-N to continue its tenure.
