ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ordered on Tuesday federal interior ministry, National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), home ministry Sindh to block CNICs and bank accounts of all absconders wanted in different cases.

The three-member bench of the apex court’s Karachi registry, headed by Justice Mashir Alam, was hearing a case against suspect Shaukat Masih. The case was heard upon the appeal of the Sindh government against acquittal of the absconder.

During the hearing, the prosecutor general Sindh said that the suspect is still on the run and measures are underway for his arrest.

The court in its remarks said that the absconders in their speeches at the top of their lungs speak about the respect of the judiciary, but do not present themselves before the courts.

The court ordered that the absconding suspects should be arrested and presented before courts.

The subordinate court had given sentence against Masih in fake drugs case but the high court in 2009 had acquitted the accused. The suspect is not presenting before the court despite court summons and remains a fugitive.
