KARACHI: Officials investigating the targetted killing of two traffic police officials, including a DSP, claim to have made a headway in the probe.

A forensic examination showed that the 9mm weapon used in the crime was also used in a similar police killing in SITE area of the city in which four policemen were martyred.

On Friday, two officials of the traffic police were martyred in the line of duty in Azizabad.

Unidentified attackers riding a motorcycle opened fire on the official vehicle of the Liaqatabad deputy superintendent of police.

As a result, DSP Mohammad Hanif and his driver-cum-gunman Sultan died on the spot.

Sources said they likely unloaded several magazines of a 9mm pistol as over a dozen shells were collected from the crime scene.

Officials of the police are targeted in similar attacks in the metropolis.
