LONDON: Britain's Liverpool airport was evacuated earlier on Tuesday while a bomb disposal team dealt with a suspect package and now it is safe and it is "business as usual", a spokesman for the airport said.

The spokesman said the evacuation was a precautionary measure and now flights were coming in as usual.

Earlier, passengers arriving at the airport were being kept on their planes after a security alert which was described as a "police incident", the local Liverpool Echo newspaper reported.

British police also evacuated London's Euston station on Tuesday after a security alert.

"An electrical item is believed to have caused a small contained explosion. No one has been injured," the British Transport Police said.
