Pakistan missions in UAE observe Kashmir black day

DUBAI: The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Pakistan Consulate Dubai observed Kashmir Black Day on Friday to show solidarity and brotherhood with the Kashmiri people’s struggle for independence.

The Black Day marks seven decades of violence in the disputed region of Kashmir.

On the eve of the event, the Pakistani and Kashmiri community warned India that it will face serious consequences if its soldiers do not stop killing civilians in the border regions along the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistan Consulate General Brigadier (retd) Javed Hassan said that Pakistan is committed to giving unfailing political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir and is hopeful the efforts and resolutions of the United Nations will bring favourable results.

He added that the Kashmir Black Day is observed around the world to condemn the forceful occupation by Indian troops of Kashmir.

Former Advisor to AJK government, Sardar Javed Yaqoob, condemned Indian atrocities in the valley and asked to bring international attention to the Kashmir movement.

“The persistent use of force by Indian forces has not weakened the indomitable will of the Kashmiri people," said Javed.

Kashmiri leader and President PML-N Gulf region urged the UN to implement its resolutions on Kashmir to resolve the decades old dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council resolutions.

Waqar Gardezi, a Kashmiri leader in UAE, asked the Secretary-General of the United Nations to facilitate and support efforts leading to a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute and also exercise the mandate entrusted to him by the Charter of the United Nations to ensure the fundamental rights and freedoms of the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Another Kashmiri leader and President Jamat-i-Islami UAE Raja Aashiq expressed his grave concern about the ongoing killings of civilians by Indian forces in the towns and villages of Kashmir.

In Abu Dhabi, Pakistan Ambassador Moazzam Khan also addressed and highlighted the struggle of Kashmiri people. Students of the Pakistani school in Abu Dhabi sung various Kashmiri songs highlighting the plight of Kashmiri people in the valley.

Pakistanis living in Dubai and Sharjah on Friday made a chain of human hands on the eve of Kashmir Day in Pakistan Consulate Dubai to express solidarity with the innocent and oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
