KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas Wednesday said cricket in Pakistan will not be affected if the Indian cricket team does not visit the country.

Abbas, a former president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and CEO of Punjab Sports Academies, said so while speaking to mediamen during his visit to Gujranwala for the establishment of a cricket academy.

He noted that nine cricket academies have been formed in different cities, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, to facilitate youngsters. "Now such academies are being formed in Gujranwala and Attock."

The former Pakistan captain, who used to be dubbed as Asian Bradman at the peak of his career, said the people of Pakistan and India want to see bilateral cricket.

Commenting on spot-fixing scandals, he said corrupt elements now have their cricket over.
