BHUBANESHWAR: Pakistan played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Malaysia in their second match of the Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India on Wednesday.

Pakistan drew first blood in the 51st minute through Muhammad Atiq’s goal before Malaysia struck back with a goal when Faizal Saari converted a penalty corner to stay alive in the competition.

The draw means, both Pakistan and Malaysia remain in the fray for the knock-out having collected a point from the game.

World number 13 Pakistan now stands at the third spot while Malaysia sits at the bottom in the Pool D fixture.

Pakistan will next face Netherlands in their final Pool D encounter while Malaysia will be up against Germany. Both the matches will be played on December 9.
