KARACHI: Fumes from a power generator left running overnight claimed lives of three factory labourers in Karachi on Monday, officials said.

The labourers worked at a factory for computerised printing of fabric designs, located in Shah Faisal Colony. Due to prolonged disruption of power supply following the season’s first rainfall in the city on Sunday, they left the generator running through the night inside the factory and slept, police said.

The three were found in an unconscious state by their fellow labourers in the morning. According to a rescue personnel, they were not breathing when they were stretchered into ambulances.

The labourers were taken to Jinnah Hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the medical staff.
