US President Donald Trump just can’t seem to catch a break.

Whether it is an investigation into his alleged connections with Russia or women accusing him of sexual misconduct, Trump is always at the centre of controversy.

An avid Twitter user, who literally uses the social media platform from voicing out his policies to attacking opponents, took a jibe at 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, which let’s just say didn’t exactly work in his favour.

“(Crooked) Hillary Clinton confirms she will not run in 2020, rules out a third bid for White House.” Aw-shucks, does that mean I won’t get to run against her again? She will be sorely missed!” Trump tweeted.

But what the US president was not expecting was a subtweet from the former secretary of state.

Without naming any names, Clinton's account tweeted a GIF of Rachel McAdams as Mean Girls' Regina George, offering up the iconic quote: "Why are you so obsessed with me?"

Clinton on Tuesday ruled out running for president in 2020.

"I’m not running, but I'm going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe," Clinton said in an interview.
