PDCU alerts adulteration found in batches of high-blood pressure medicine

PDCU alert asks patients not to purchase specific batch number medicines

The Provincial Drug Control Authority said on Tuesday that its Control Unit has released a public alert as adulteration has been found in the 2.5mg Byscard (Nebivolol) which is used to treat high blood pressure. 

According to the alert, adulteration of metronidazole and diloxanide has been found in specific batch of the 2.5 mg byscard (Nebivolol).

It further stated that the various batches of said tablet were received for routine analysis at drug testing laboratory in Rawalpindi. 

Two of the batches (0359, 0360) did not respond to the analytical method of manufacturer and an out of specification investigation has been initiated upon it.

According to the PDCU alert, patients should not purchase these specific batch number medicines from anywhere in the country.

This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
