'I belong to a household where women are respected,' Mohsin Abbas Haider on abuse claims

LAHORE: Actor Mohsin Abbas Haider, who allegedly cheated on and abused his wife, Fatima Sohail, said Sunday: "I belong to a household where women are respected."

Responding to Sohail's claims, wherein she had said she was "dragged," "kicked," and "punched" by her husband when she was pregnant after she caught him cheating with another model, Mohsin Abbas Haider explained that his wife, Fatima Sohail, travelled to Faislabad to meet him when his mother passed away.

Haider said: "A few months after the wedding, we both had realised that this marriage should not have happened.

"A few days after our wedding, her lies started to surface," he alleged. "She used to tell me she was going someplace but went to another place."

Haider asserted that Sohail's father was a witness to her lies. "When his daughter's lies were caught, he told me, 'Son, even God forgives one sin.'"

Haider went on to respond to allegations of cheating and abuse against him by levelling accusations against her. He said: "She has a habit of lying and being dishonest.

"I never brought my personal life into the media. She often used to do this. I just want to tell why we are at this point of divorce."

'Punched me on face & threw me on the wall'

Haider further said he and his wife only lived together for one out of the four years they were married together. "We have been separated for the past six months."

Earlier, on Sunday, Mohsin Abbas Haider's wife Fatima Sohail alleged that her husband physically abused her and was having an extra-marital affair. She wrote: "I am Fatima. Wife of Mohsin Abbas Haider & here is my story."

Adding pictures of her bruised face and of a first information report (FIR) she has registered against her husband, she said: "On 26th Nov 2018, I caught my husband cheating. When I confronted him, instead of being embarrassed he started Beating me. I was pregnant at that time!

"He pulled me from hair, dragged me on floor, kicked me several times, punched me on face & threw me on the wall. I was brutally beaten by my husband," she added.

A month after the birth of their child, she added, she "went to Mohsin's Home & asked him to take our son's responsibility where he started beating me again! He refused to do anything for his son," she claimed.

Actor Dua Malik, on her Instagram story, came out in support of Fatima Sohail and wrote: "I am sure to say I am the only eye witness in this industry.

"I have kept this fire in my heart for 3 years. i have seen him beating the shit out of his wife on the road and where not," she added.

In addition, actor Gohar Rasheed also supported Fatima Sohail, saying on Twitter how he was a "second hand witness to it in 2018 when" Sohail was rushed to the hospital after Mohsin Abbas Haider brutally beat her.

"Through her I got to know the whole Story. Fatima is like a sister to me. SHE, wanted to save her marriage and ensure the health of her baby so we respected that and kept quite but now since she is out with the truth her self (more power to you #fatima). […] She needs justice and he needs HELP. #justiceforfatima."
