Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has called his South Punjab compatriot Saif Badar, a 'good' candidate for the Pakistan cricket team, after the two registered their side's first win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the ongoing National T20 Cup.

“[Saif] is a good candidate because of the way he batted and secured the inning when we were four wickets out. He played a pretty controlled inning and never looked confused, so for me this is a good sign,” said Riaz during a post-match presentation at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

“Saif also won us the game last year at T20 Cup finals, so this is a good sign that a youngster is performing consistently, which is great for Pakistan cricket,” he added.

Talking about his partnership with Badar, the fast bowler also appreciated the fact that Badar was focused more on playing for the team rather than achieving his own career milestone.

“I was telling Saif to play till the end and complete his fifty whereas I would take the charge, however he was the one who said we should complete the game in this over, so it is a good sign that the players are not thinking for themselves but for the team," said Riaz.

Badar is a middle order batsman, who played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs alongside Riaz's (42*).
