ISLAMABAD: Spillways of the Rawal Dam were opened on Thursday morning due to an increase in water levels following overnight rains in the twin cities, Geo News reported.
The Rawal Dam has a capacity to store 1,752 ft of water but because of the rain the level increased to 1,747.5 ft.
The dam management declared emergency and the spillways were opened to discharge excess water.
The overnight rain filled the low lying areas with water.
