After suffering a defeat in the first match of the series, Pakistan have decided to include Fawad Alam in the team for the second Test against England, sources told Geo News on Wednesday.

According to sources, Fawad will replace Shadab Khan in the team and will bat at number 6.

The second Test will mark Fawad's re-entry into the five-day format after almost 11 years as he last played a Test match for Pakistan in 2009.

Sources further said that Abid Ali, Shan Masood, captain Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Abbas, and Naseem Shah will be part of the team in the Southampton Test.

During the first test, England had sealed an unlikely three-wicket victory after slumping to 117-5 at one point in their pursuit of 277, as Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler shared a sixth-wicket partnership of 139 runs to turn the tide.

Pakistan were the much better side for a large part of last week's first Test at Old Trafford and, despite a second-innings collapse, were still favourites to win.
