Jamaicans angry about treatment of Meghan Markle

A royal expert has shared her thoughts on the protest in Jamaica during Kate Middleton and Prince William's royal tour of the Caribbean.

A protest about Britain’s ties to Jamaica has been staged just before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in the country.

Sharing her thoughts on the protests, a royal expert claimed 'Jamaicans are angry about the treatment of Meghan Markle".

Journalist Nadine Batchelor Hunt wrote on Twitter: "I don't think Brits realise how angry Jamaicans are over the treatment of Meghan by the Royal Family & the British public. And the Royal Family should be worried, the decolonisation movement has picked up steam in recent years: Barbados just abolished the Queen as head of state."

It is to mention here that during a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the Duchess of Sussex accused the Royal Family of racism, stating that an unnamed member of the Firm expressed "concerns about how dark his [Archie's] skin might be when he was born."

William and Kate's trip to the Caribbean is seen as a charm offensive to stop other countries from following in Barbados' suit and removing the Queen as Head of State.

Jamaica – a Commonwealth Realm where the Queen remains the Head of State – is in the middle of a lively debate about whether to sever ties with the British Crown 60 years after the former colony gained its independence.

However, Kate Middleton and Prince William, who was reportedly given a side mission for the tour, are winning hearts with their people-friendly gesture and doing their best to project the good image of the Royal Family.
