LIMA: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake rattled central Peru early on Thursday, US seismologists said, waking people up and sending them rushing into the street, according to early reports.
The quake occurred at 4.38 am (0938 GMT), the US Geological Survey said, noting that it struck at a depth of 143 kilometers (89 miles), 34 kilometers east of the Amazon city of Pucallpa. (AFP)
