Max George dishes out details about ‘shocking’ proposal to Maisie Smith

Max George has recently dished out details about his unplanned engagement moment to Maisie Smith.

During his appearance on Iain Stirling’s CelebAbility via MailOnline, Max opened up about his “proposal” that left Maisie shocked in April while filming ITV's The Chase Celebrity Special.

Iain questioned, “The last time you were on a game show, you proposed to your girlfriend Maisie. Why did you do that? I thought it was real. You were on The Chase?”

To this, Max replied, “Yeh, right... It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. And, it was a joke, so...”

Then Iain chimed in and remarked, “Do you know what girlfriend's love? When their partner proposes to them as a joke.”

Max shared, “No, but it was like one of them things where Brad [Bradly Walsh] has said, “so when's the big day?” and then everyone laughed.

“And I stated, “well it's funny you ask” and put my hand in my back pocket, like that, while Maisie went all sort of giddy.

Meanwhile, Max revealed, “Off camera she shook her head, like that awkwardly, so I'm glad it wasn't real.”

Max and Maisie’s relationship have been under scrutiny due to their 13-year gap.

“When you're in a new relationship, people have a lot to say. But we've been together a while now and we've proven our love isn't just for the cameras,” confessed the actress.

The actress remarked, “We're genuinely two best friends, in love and we're so happy. We still get negative comments.”

“Family and friends are so supportive and have never seen either of us so happy. I've never been in such a happy position,” added Maisie.
