FIFA has taken a decisive stance against Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish football federation, by issuing a three-year ban in response to his behaviour following the Women's World Cup final.

Rubiales' actions sparked controversy, primarily due to reports of inappropriate conduct towards England players, culminating in a non-consensual kiss with a Spanish star player.

The FIFA disciplinary committee minced no words in condemning Rubiales' behaviour, stressing the severity of his actions despite his elevated position in the football realm.

Debbie Hewitt, chairwoman of the Football Association, provided crucial testimony, shedding light on Rubiales' unsettling interactions with England players during the post-final ceremonies.

Hewitt detailed several uncomfortable encounters, citing instances where Rubiales allegedly made inappropriate physical contact and forcibly kissed England players. Her testimony also highlighted discomfort over Rubiales' greetings to Spanish players, which she deemed as inappropriate gestures.

Despite resigning from his role and vowing not to step down initially, Rubiales remains steadfast in his denial of any wrongdoing, insisting that the kiss with Jenni Hermoso was consensual. He has expressed his intent to challenge the ban imposed by FIFA.

The situation escalates as Rubiales faces a legal inquiry over a sexual assault complaint related to the incident involving Hermoso. The clash between Rubiales' claims and the stark evidence presented in testimonies prolongs the controversy surrounding his actions and the disciplinary measures enforced by FIFA.
