Karachi Kings, the winners of Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) season five, have made a major trade with Multan Sultans ahead of the draft on December 13.

In this trade, Pakistan’s current Test captain, Shan Masood, will join the Karachi Kings' squad. In exchange, Karachi Kings bid farewell to left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram along with their first pick in the diamond round and first pick in the silver round.

Masood initially joined the Sultans during the 2018 season and made his PSL debut in 2019 against the Kings.

He also led the Sultans to top the league stage in the 2020 season and qualify for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Masood has amassed 1,318 runs in 42 matches and his presence also played a pivotal role in Sultans' title win in 2021.

Sultans Chief Executive Ali Khan Tareen said: “I want to thank Shan Masood who has been the longest-serving member of the Sultans family. He has been our captain and a huge part of our success. We will definitely miss him and wish him the best in his new team.”

Earlier, the Kings traded their last edition's skipper Imad Wasim to Islamabad United in place of Hasan Ali.

The draft of PSL season nine will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13.

PSL 9 is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March 2024.

Earlier, it was reported that two countries are in the running to host some matches of the PSL 9.

According to sources, UAE and South Africa could host the initial matches of PSL due to elections in Pakistan.

However, sources added that the majority of the franchises are insisting that the entire event should take place in Pakistan.
