  • PTI UK chapter expresses ignorance about developments.
  • Donald Lu will be named as defending party in federal-level case.
  • Khadijah Shah, other American nationals will also be a part of case.

LONDON: The UK chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appears to be unaware of any legal action mulled by Imran Khan's sons against American diplomat Donald Lu in the UK and the US to seek justice for the incarcerated leader.

Atif Khan, a US-based PTI Core Committee member and adviser to Imran Khan, has verified that preparations for a case are underway, with filing expected within two weeks.

Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan had announced on December 14 that Imran Khan’s sons would be pursuing legal action in the UK, and a case against Donald Lu would be filed in the US.

Atif Khan revealed that the case in the US would involve several American-Pakistanis as complainants, including those directly affected by events since April 2022. It will be a federal-level class action, with Donald Lu named as the defending party.

Khadijah Shah and other American nationals, whose families reside in Pakistan and are affected parties, will also be a part of the case.

The News reached out to three credible PTI representatives in the UK, all of whom confirmed their lack of knowledge regarding any potential legal action by Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan.

They were unaware of any plans to file a case at the London High Court and were uncertain about the identities of the respondent or defendant involved.

Jemima Khan has refrained from making public comments on the current political situation in Pakistan. A source close to her has confirmed that she is not aware of any legal cases in the UK and is not part of any such efforts. Jemima Khan has consistently expressed her reluctance to involve herself in Pakistani politics.

Meanwhile, the PTI chief sons, who are not active on social media, have not publicly addressed the evolving situation in Pakistan since April 2022.
