Petroleum Ministry proposes CNG price at 80% of petrol

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Petroleum has recommended a rise in the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to a level equal to 80 percent of the price of petrol.

According to Petroleum Ministry sources, a policy has been prepared for the CNG sector and sent to the Federal Cabinet for approval. The policy further contains proposals to limit the use of CNG to public transport and vehicles under 1,000 CC.

According to the policy the government should also offer incentives to owners who are willing to convert their CNG stations to LPG pumps.
