Will Cristiano Ronaldo join Monterrey to play in Liga MX?

Monterrey, the Liga MX team that shook football fans around the world when it defeated David Beckham's Inter Miami and Lionel Messi in the Concacaf Champions Cup, is set to take on Columbus Crew in tournament semifinals.

The famous Rayados have emerged as one of Mexico's best clubs in recent years as a result of their great budget signings of players such as German Berterame, Jesus Corona and Maxi Meza among others.

Additionally, everything took another level when rumors pointed at a possibility for Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo to play in Liga MX, Bolavip reported.

However, team’s president, Jose Antonio Noriega, has put those rumours to rest, dismissing that scenario.

In a video, while responding to Monterrey fans' questions about the Portuguese player potentially playing in the Liga MX, Noriega’s answer was clear as he simply said: "No way." 

In fact, he laughed about the situation and sarcastically said that it could happen if fans collect the money.

Ronaldo, 39, is currently under contract with Al Nassr until 2025 and, according to many reports, the former Manchester United legend wants to extend his tenure in Saudi Arabia.

Although Monterrey are financially one of the most powerful teams in Mexico, they just can’t compete with the Saudi Pro League numbers for what could be the last big deal of Ronaldo’s illustrious career, according to Bolavip.
