Google is reportedly working on bringing back a significant iPhone feature with a twist to its upcoming Android operating software (OS) for Pixel.

According to Android Police, the Big Tech company is planning to bring back lock screen widgets for its Android 15 OS to make Pixel smartphones more useful.

In a report for Android Authority, Android expert Mishaal Rahman claims that the company is working on integrating RemoteViews API into At a Glance's Smartspace API, allowing it to display third-party widgets.

However, according to Android Police, there are issues as the company lacks the space to display full-size widgets and currently shows only the the relevant information from the third-party widget.

So, Google must dynamically resize them to fit their content within the limited space.

Additionally, At a Glance is limited to Pixel devices on the lock screen and if the tech giant uses it to bring third-party widget support to Android phones' lock screens, it will have to work with other manufacturers to expand the widget's availability to their devices.

Currently, users can only place At a Glance widget with limited functionality on the home screen of non-Pixel phones.

Apparently, Google is also considering moving the At a Glance widget to the bottom of the lock screen.

Google is reportedly in the early stages of developing the Live Activities-like widget support in Android 15, which may not be ready for the OS' launch later this year.

This could mean users might have to wait until Android 16's 2025 launch for a superior lock screen experience.
