Derek Hough, Hayley Erbert mark one year of 'despair to triumph'

Hayley Erbert just marked her official return to stage alongside her husband, Derek Hough.

After undergoing emergency brain surgery, with high spirits, the dancer marked her one-year anniversary from the life-changing incident with a special performance.

As the couple’s life changes completely last year, where Erbert was rushed to the hospital after their show and then diagnosed with cranial hematoma, they returned to the same stage for their performance to celebrate coming a long way in their journey to recovery and stability.

In an post, uploaded on Hough’s official Instagram account with a lengthy caption, the 39-year-old celebrity penned, "It’s been exactly one year since Hayley almost lost her life."

"We returned to the very same stage, the same room where we once felt so much fear and uncertainty. A place where I stood frozen, terrified, praying for a miracle,” he further mentioned underneath the video of his wife’s and his show.

He continued, “We changed the story of that room. We transformed it, from fear to beauty, from uncertainty to faith, and from despair to triumph."

In the reel, the American choreographer had mentioned that performing on the same stage a year after the tragedy had struck, enabled the couple to "change the story...to something beautiful," and proceeded to invite Dr. Mai, who Hough mentioned had "saved Hayley's life.”
