Justin Baldoni's lawyers just clapped back at Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s request of a gagging order against them.
This comes after the Gossip Girl star sued her It Ends With Us co-star, who played the role of Ryle Kincaid, for s**ual harassment and for creating a toxic work environment on the set of the film.
The New York Times released an article based on Lively’s side of the story that accused Baldoni of carrying out a “smear campaign” against her.
In response to this, the Jane The Virgin actor sued the Times for defamation and filed a 400 million dollar countersuit not only against his It Ends With Us co-star, who portrayed Lily Bloom on screen, but also her husband, Reynolds.
Things got heated when the A-list Hollywood couple requested a protective order against Baldoni’s legal team after a bombshell video was released by attorney Bryan Freedman. The move for obtaining a gagging order was deemed as an “intimidation tactic” by the 41-year-old’s attorney, Kevin Fritz.
As per PEOPLE magazine, Fritz wrote to the judge to deny the order stating that Lively’s “desire to force the Wayfarer Parties to defend themselves privately against allegations made publicly is not a proper basis for a gag order. It is tactical gamesmanship, and it is outrageous.”
He further claimed that Baldoni and his colleagues of Wayfarer Studios have been “exiled from polite society and suffered damages totaling hundreds of millions of dollars” due to the lawsuit.
Justin Baldoni’s attorney also mentioned how his client faced “utterly calamitous fallout,” becoming instant “objects of public scorn and contempt,” and alleged that it was Blake Lively who sparked a “media feeding frenzy” by giving the New York Times a copy of her complaint.
