Rihanna fans call out Jay-Z's 'creepy' behaviour after her father's demise

Rihanna fans have made a Jay-Z moment resurface on the internet.

After the death of the iconic Diamonds hitmaker’s father, Ronald Fenty at the age of 70, Jay-Z has now come under fire over how he was with Rihanna during one of the most important moments of her career.

Back on February 10, 2008 when Rihanna won her first Grammy, she mentioned her father first and foremost saying, “Dad? I know I promised you I'm gonna give you my first Grammy, but we might have to fight for this one!”

It was perceived that the now 55-year-old music mogul did not appreciate the fact that he wasn’t acknowledged for his contributions to her stardom since her first win was for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for their hit collaboration, Umbrella.

“She said she wanted to thank everybody for her first Grammy,” Jay-Z interrupted which prompted her to instantly express gratitude to him “for being a part of this record with” her.

Interrupting her again, Jay-Z referred to himself by his nickname and spoke in third person, saying, “She'd like to thank Jigga Man for being the greatest in the world.”

Rihanna then handled the situation rather elegantly, extending her arm after this so she could complete her acceptance speech without further interruption.

More than 17 years later, fans became even more critical of Jay-Z’s behaviour, notably after the death of Rihanna’s father.

One user commented, “The way he interrupted her while she acknowledged her dad yet bigs himself up when she acknowledged Him says a lot.”

“He was so rude and undermined her with his attitude. Imagine how he treats her and others behind closed doors,” another user exclaimed in the comments.
