Sean “Diddy” Combs has lost all popularity after being arrested for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation for prostitution. His trial is set to begin in May, and experts are explaining if he stands a chance of being liberated.

Diddy has vehemently denied the allegations.

On May 5, jury selection for the case will begin and the proceedings are expected to last two months. If convicted, Diddy could go to prison for 15 years or life, but the latter isn’t likely.

“This is a very strong case for the prosecution,” attorney and former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told People. “The sheer number of victims, years and pattern of abuse and the electronic evidence implicating Combs make this a challenging case to defend.”

Since his arrest, numerous other people have accused the rapper of sexual abuse in civil lawsuits. According to CNN, at least two other people will testify against him during the trial.

Diddy’s attorney has revealed that the music mogul wants to testify in the trial.

“I don’t know that I could keep him off the stand,” Agnifilo said in the documentary The Downfall of Diddy. “He is very eager to tell his story.”

Rahmini argued that that would be a bad decision as it would expose the rapper to cross-examination.

Predicting how the trial will go, she said, “When multiple victims are testifying Combs physically and sexually assaulted them. It will be hard for the defense to argue it was all consensual. Adults can consent to sexual activity no matter how freaky it is, but the victims may have been coerced by force or were unable to consent because they were under the influence of drugs."

“I expect him to be convicted,” Rahmani noted, adding, “and spend decades in prison.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently waiting for trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
