Meghan Markle stripped of royal title?

Meghan Markle, the American wife of Britain's Prince Harry, has faced backlash for using her HRH (Her Royal Highness) title on a card sent with a personal gift to cosmetics entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima.

Royal family supporters criticized the Duchess of Sussex, claiming she breached an agreement with the late Queen Elizabeth by using the title.

In response, sources close to Meghan defended her actions, stating that the title was used on a personal gift, not for public purposes.

The controversy emerged after a video showed a gift basket with a card reading, "With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex."

The backlash has sparked demands for King Charles to remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal titles.

However, the process of stripping royal titles is complex. According to the Titles Deprivation Act 1917, the monarch can deprive individuals of their titles, but this requires parliamentary approval.

The situation has left some US fans of the royal family confused, wondering if Meghan has lost her title.

It's pertinent to mention here that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to hold their royal titles and no action has been initiated against them over their titles.

Below are the statements issued by the Buckingham Palace on behalf of the late Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020:
