Angela Bassett admitted being a mom helped her portray the role of the leader of the United States.

The 9-1-1 star, who has played the role of president of America in both Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Netflix's Zero Day, opened up about her influential role.

The 66-year-old actress said that her real-life role as mom and reel-life role as president is almost the same as both have "veto power."

"I think being a mom really actually helps, 'cause you have constituents," she told People.

"You listen sometimes, but they need to adhere. You have veto power," Bassett noted.

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress expressed her hope that through her role people might get comfortable with the idea of women being the president of a country.

"Whenever I'm portraying them, I'm hoping and waiting for the day when life will imitate art. We're not there yet, obviously," she said, adding, "We always talk about that idea of seeing yourself in film and theater, seeing what's possible, human interaction. So I think … the film is aspirational in its way, so one day, one day. We'll get there.”
