King Charles and Queen Camilla made a special visit ahead of their upcoming royal tour to Ottawa.
Charles and Camilla visited Canada House in London to celebrate its 100th anniversary.Located in Trafalgar Square, Canada House has stood as a symbol of Canada's presence in the UK since its official opening in 1952 by King George V.
Notably, it has since grown into a cultural hub and a showcase of art, design, and heritage.
On Tuesday, the official Instagram handle of the royal family posted a video clip from the visit featuring a glimpse into the special visit.
The video showed King Charles and Queen Camilla touring the landmark building and meeting key figures representing Canadian communities and culture to honour the historic milestone.
In the caption, the statement read, "Happy 100 years to Canada House!"
"Ahead of Their Majesties’ visit to Ottawa next week, The King and Queen have visited Canada House to mark a century since it opened in June 1925."
"Canada House has become a symbol of Canada in London and a showcase for Canadian art, culture and heritage," it further read.
King Charles was also presented with a ceremonial key to Canada House.
It is worth mentioning that the new key echoes the original set, which was cast in Canadian bronze, silver, and nickel and presented to his great-grandfather, King George V, at the official opening a century ago.
Buckingham palace went on to add, "During the visit, The King was presented with the key to Canada House which echoes the set cast in Canadian bronze, silver and nickel which was given to King George V upon the official opening in 1925."
This visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla comes ahead of their royal tour to Ottawa next week.
On May 2nd, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla "will visit Canada from Monday 26th to Tuesday 27th May."
"Their Majesties will attend The State Opening of the Parliament of Canada in Ottawa," they further wrote.
Furthermore, the visit to Canada will mark the second overseas trip of King Charles, who is currently battling cancer, this year. He previously visited Italy alongside Queen Camilla, where they also had a private meeting with Pope Francise before his death.
