Tom Cruise has finally shared which of his famous stunts took “decades” before the release of Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning.

On Monday, May 19, the 62-year-old Hollywood star, who has pulled off spine-chilling stunts throughout his career, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he opened up about his years-long dedication that made him perform daring stunts.

For the unversed, Cruise has performed a stunt in the upcoming final movie of the Mission Impossible franchise, where he held onto the wing of a flying aeroplane which was flying at the speed of nearly 150 mph.

While having a conversation, the Mission Impossible star revealed that he spent a year and a half just to discuss the stunt, and it takes excessive background work before pulling off a stunt.

Cruise said, "It took decades to figure it out, honestly.”

He went on to share that this new stunt was inspired by "black-and-white footage of the very early days of wing walking," a high-stakes activity of people walking on the wings of a flying plane.

The Top Gun star recounted, "I just thought, 'Wow, I'd love to do that.' I was a little kid.”

Cruise also noted that he and director Christopher McQuarrie planned to do something in the air in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning and the pilot, who was skilled at flying everything from helicopters to planes, was also excited to pull off this stunt.

"We chose the airplane, and I know how to fly that airplane and figure it out. And we just start seeing how can I get zero-G between the wings and what can we do," he added.

Before concluding, it is pertinent to mention that Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning will be in cinemas on May 23, 2025.
