Amal Clooney reveals the biggest challenge of marrying George Clooney, and it was not what you'd expect.
Marrying one of Hollywood’s biggest stars may sound like a dream, but for Amal Clooney, it came up with an unexpected learning curve.
Speaking at the Cartier Dialogues event in Bangkok. The renowned human rights lawyer admitted life changed dramatically after tying the knot with George Clooney in 2014.
"It was easier when I could decide what kind of exposure I got," Amal said. "It was something new to navigate."
Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognisable couples, Amal kept he career and personal life in separate worlds.
"I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different," she explained. "I was able to not have them mix… and then I got married and that changed quite a lot."
She even found herself overthinking everyday choices, worrying how public appearances might be viewed in court.
"At first I was kind of conscious of that one-dimensional view where I felt like, well, I can't be seen wearing this dress or doing this because I'm in front of a judge on Monday," she said.
That mindset didn't last forever. "But you know it just doesn't matter as much as living your life, and, ultimately, if you're good at what you do, that is going to shine through or not."
Today, the couple balances the red carpet with a quieter life on their farm in France, where they are raising twins Ella and Alexander.
George has previously said the move gives their children a more grounded upbringing–far away from Hollywood’s spotlight and endless paparazzi.
