Barry Keoghan opened up about his initial challenges when he embarked on the journey to become an actor.

In his latest chat with the Daily Mirror newspaper, the former boyfriend of Sabrina Carpenter got candid about the time when he struggled to get enrolled into the dance and drama school companies.

He began by recalling, "I did not get into any. I was lost. I had just finished school. It was like having your confidence knocked out."

For those unversed, Barry reportedly started applying to performing arts institutions following his role as Aido in the Irish Film Board's crime film Between the Canals in 2010.

However, the 32-year-old actor did not give up and ultimately landed an opportunity at The Factory, now called, Bow Street Academy, in Dublin.

In conclusion, he said, "The Factory was not an acting school - it was more of a place of pure collaboration and had an experimental approach."

Following this, Barry starred in the organised crime drama series Love/Hate in 2013, which helped him to officially commence his career in Ireland.
