Marcello Hernández turned his Emmy presentation into an unexpected invite for Zendaya and Tom Holland.
While presenting the award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night, September 14, the Saturday Night Live star took the opportunity to extend a dinner invite for the newlyweds.
While on stage, he spotted the couple in the audience and seized the moment, saying, “I saw you and I wanted to play it cool, and I've decided I can't do that.”
The 29-year-old comedian and actor joked before turning his attention to the couple. “So, I would like to invite you and Spider-Man to have dinner at my house.”
He ditched the usual presenter script and boldly invited the Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars for a dinner at his house.
The unexpected shout-out prompted plenty of laughs, with the two smiling and laughing as the camera cut to them in the audience.
The playful moment came during a star-studded Emmy night at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, where Mariska Hargitay hosted the ceremony, which aired live on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
Zendaya and Holland’s joint appearance was itself a treat for fans, given how rarely the couple makes public appearances together.
