Tom Cruise leaked audio explained

Director Christopher McQuarrie has explained the infamous leaked audio of Tom Cruise yelling at crew members on the set of Mission: Impossible 7. 

McQuarrie revealed that the Hollywood star's outburst was not a meltdown, but rather a reaction to crew members consistently breaking social distancing rules during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cruise expressed frustration after two crew members, tasked with health and safety, repeatedly failed to adhere to safety protocols.

The actor started yelling after he failed to address the issue.

Defending Tom Cruise's actions, McQuarrie said that the actor was not just playing the lead role but also shouldering the responsibility of keeping the production going during extraordinary times. 

"That was not a guy pissed off because his latte was cold… He was on the phone every night fighting the good fight to keep things going, to keep things alive," McQuarrie explained.

He said that Cruise's actions were driven by a desire to protect the crew's jobs, health, and future.
