Mel B reveals if Spice Girls will celebrate 30th anniversary with reunion

Mel B has officially shut down any hopes of a Spice Girls reunion tour to mark the group's 30th anniversary, admitting she has "laid that to rest" now that she has turned 50.

Despite the milestone year for their debut single and album, the artist formerly known as Scary Spice confirmed that a return to the stage isn't on the cards.

"I can tell you it’s not happening," she said, adding that if a tour did eventually materialise, it would be a complete shock to her.

While the band last performed together for a series of shows in 2019 without Victoria Beckham, Mel B feels the timing for such a massive commitment has passed.

She reflected on how much she loved being in her element during previous tours, but explained that she no longer wants to be the one "nagging everyone" to get back on the road if their hearts aren't in it.

Even if Melanie C, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham were suddenly to sign up, Mel B isn't certain she would even change her own mind about performing again.

The singer was quick to point out that her decision doesn't stem from any bad blood, noting she has a huge amount of "respect and love" for her bandmates, whom she still views as family.

She credited the Spice Girls for her entire career and personal growth, though she remains hesitant about the physical demands of the spotlight.

"I’ve got fond memories, but I don’t know if I would want to go back up on stage," she admitted in an interview published on Friday, 3 April.

While a tour is off the table, a documentary remains a possibility, though Mel B has some very specific conditions for taking part.

She told HELLO! that while the group has been approached and everyone has considered it, any film would need to be handled carefully.

For her, the project would only work if it was a completely truthful account of their journey.

There is a catch, however, as she noted that "it has to be honest, and not everybody wants to be honest."

For now, fans will have to settle for those fond memories as the 30-year milestone approaches.
