Mikey Madison just took over a role that was previously given to Sydney Sweeney.

Even though the Euphoria star has her own hype, Mikey, who won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role by the grace of the film, Anora, is in the race for some big acting gigs too.

As per ComingSoon, Mikey is set to replace Sydney in the upcoming film for A24, a reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous, The Masque of the Red Death.

The project is set to be directed by Charlie Polinger, whose debut feature, The Plague, was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.

The movie will revolve around the story of a long-lost twin, which would be portrayed by Mikey, entering the castle of a mad prince whose people are suffering from the tragedies of plague, opening up a world of power schemes, revenge, drugs, intimacy and decapitations for the twin.

Previously, Sydney was given this role however, she had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Mikey is now in talks for the lead role and would be playing twin sisters in the movie which is set to begin production in late 2025 or early 2026.

Mikey Madison is best known for starring as the title role in Sean Baker’s award-winning film Anora, where she also won the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also previously starred in projects such as FX’s Better Things, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and 2022’s Scream.
