As Princess remains hospitalised after accident, Dutch Queen changes schedule

Princess Catharina-Amalia, who broke her arm after falling from her horse, is recuperating at a hospital.

After the incident on Tuesday, she was moved to hospital where doctors said she needed a surgery.

In a statement Royal House confirmed the incident and said: "The Princess of Orange broke her upper arm today after falling from her horse. She will undergo surgery at the UMC Utrecht.”

The 21-year-old royal was to undergo a surgery as the hospital staff were preparing to operate on the princess, who suffered a fracture to an upper arm bone in the fall.

A report said the future Queen of Netherlands is recovering well and will remain in the hospital until at least tomorrow (Thursday).

According to the report, the Dutch Royal family's summer photocall, which was scheduled for later this week, has been postponed until June 30.

Adjustments to Queen Maxima’s schedule has also been made so she can be more available for her daughter as she recovers.

Hours after her daughter was hospitalized, Queen Máxima spoke at the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) Global Summit in Amsterdam.

Since the investiture of her father as King Willem-Alexander on 30 April 2013, Princess Catharina-Amalia has held the title Princess of Orange.

This title can only be held by the heir to the throne and is used without a first name. The Princess has also retained her two other titles, conferred upon her on her birth.

She moved to Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague together with her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, and her two sisters, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane.

Since September 2022 the princess has been living and studying in Amsterdam.

According to her profile on the official website of the Dutch royal family, "In her free time she enjoys horse riding, tennis and singing."
