Duchess Sophie brings splash of colour to her meeting with Zambian artists

The Duchess of Edinburgh has continued her six-day tour of Zambia with a busy second day in Lusaka.

Sophie began the day meeting Zambian women entrepreneurs, hearing about their experiences in business and the work being done to create greater opportunities for women and girls in the country.

She later visited Imvelo Studios, a contemporary art space where she met women artists and survivors of gender-based violence who are using creative expression as a way to find healing, build confidence and advocate for change.

The Duchess also met participants involved in a workshop run by Barefeet Theatre.

Sophie opted for a colourful wrap dress by Soler London, pairing it with her much-loved Penelope Chilvers espadrilles and gold jewellery.

Her day continued with a visit to Jewel of Africa, a family run Zambian gemstone business founded in 1992. 

The company places a strong emphasis on ethical sourcing, working directly with mines while focusing on traceability and responsible supply chains.

Sophie also tried shaping and polishing a piece of quartz.
