Prince William gets creative with moorland-inspired printing in Princetown

Prince William was greeted by a group of excited local children during a special visit to Princetown, where the Duke of Cornwall returned to a community with which he has formed a personal connection.

The Prince stopped at Gather & Moor, a newly opened visitor centre and café in the heart of the town, where he met local residents, rangers, and artists who use the venue to display and sell their work.

Among those welcoming William were Emma and John, who run Princetown Press as Duchy tenants. 

The artistic couple invited the Prince to get involved in their traditional manual printing process, using inks and pigments inspired by the colours and natural materials of the surrounding moorland.

William then visited the Youth Club, where he spent time chatting with local children and heard about the workshops and activities being offered from the newly refurbished building.

During a private trip to Princetown in 2025, William noticed that the youth club’s roof was in poor condition and subsequently arranged for the Duchy to step in and fund repairs.

Earlier this week, the future king called for “urgent optimism” in the fight against the climate emergency in an article for The Independent, ahead of the sixth Earthshot Prize ceremony.
