Will Smith was initially offered a lead role in Inception before Leonardo DiCaprio was casted.

During a recent interview with a radio station Kiss Xtra, the Men In Black actor candidly revealed the reason for rejecting the movie.

"I don't think I've ever said it publicly, but I am going to say it because we are opening up to one another. Chris Nolan brought me 'Inception' first.” the 56-year-old actor began.

The science-fiction movie is about a thief Dom Cobb, who has an ability to extract any information from people’s minds. Later in the movie, he is hired to plant an idea in people's minds, a process called inception.

Sharing the reason for rejecting the offer, he continued, “I didn’t get it. I’ve never said that out loud. Now that I think about it, it’s those movies that go into those alternate realities… they don’t pitch well. But I am hurt by those, too.”

Referring to his previously rejected role in movies, The Matrix and Django Unchained, Will Smith concluded, “It hurts too bad to talk about.”

Previously, As per The Hollywood Reporter, they also offered the lead role to Brad Pitt but he didn’t commit to the project.

For those unversed, the movie was then offered to DiCaprio and it became one of his biggest hit movies. The movie had an official budget of $160 budget and gross over $800 million worldwide.
