Sabrina Carpenter is considering to ban phones at her concerts after getting inspired by Silk Sonic’s 2022 Las Vegas residency where she really enjoyed the phone-free environment.
At the Silk Sonic’s 2022 Las Vegas residency, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak had a strict no-phone policy.
The duo even came up with a musical fun reminder for the fans to let them know why phones were not allowed at their show.
“We took your phones away,” they sang. “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”
Carpenter wants to apply the same policy at her concerts. “I’ve never had a better experience at a concert,” she told Rolling Stone.
“I genuinely felt like I was back in the Seventies — wasn’t alive,” the Please Please Please singer added. “Genuinely felt like I was there. Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other, and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”
She explained to the outlet, “I’ve grown up in the age of people having iPhones at shows. It unfortunately feels super normal to me. I can’t blame people for wanting to have memories.
“But depending on how long I want to be touring, and what age I am, girl, take those phones away,” the pop star continued.
“You cannot zoom in on my face. Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine. Do not zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there.”
Moreover, the idea of banning phones at the concerts is gaining popularity among the artists who say that they want their fans to enjoy the performance to the fullest.
Recently, Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood asked audience to put away their phones and said, “We really want fans to enjoy the shows first hand, rather than on their small screens.”
