King Charles and Prince William on Saturday used their social media accounts to mark the Armed Forces Day.
The monarch said he salutes "all members of the military this Armed Forces Day" in a post shared on the official Instagram account of The Royal Family.
"Thank you for your tireless service, protecting the UK and promoting peace overseas. We are hugely grateful for your efforts, often in the face of danger, and those of your loved ones, providing support at home," read the king's message accompanying his picture in army uniform.
Similarly, his son and heir to the throne, Prince William, marked the day by sharing his picture taken during a visits in military uniform.
"Proud to mark Armed Forces Day. Thank you to everyone serving in the British Armed Forces, and to all veterans, for your courage, dedication and sacrifice," the Prince of Wales said in a brief statement.
After the King and his son posted their tributes to the armed forces on social media, anti-monarchy group Republic mocked the the royal family by sharing photos of some senior members of the family in military uniforms.
The group said, "It’s Armed Forces Day today, so worth remembering those who exploit our forces for their own PR. A Walter Mitty is someone who dresses up in unearned uniforms, ranks and medals. Something royals do regularly. "
