A new commemorative stamp celebrating what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday on 21 April 2026 has just been issued by Deutsche Post.
Unveiled at the British Embassy in Berlin with British Ambassador Andrew Mitchell and Deutsche Post officials, the design shows the late Queen in a bright canary‑yellow outfit and her signature matching hat.
With a postage value of €1.25 and an initial print run of 1.3 million, the stamp isn’t just a keepsake for collectors, it’s fully usable for international mail too.
Officials say the stamp honours more than just a birthday. For many Germans, Queen Elizabeth represented reconciliation and steadfastness.
She was a figure whose four state visits to Germany helped strengthen ties between the UK and its neighbour after decades of European tension.
The Queen’s late husband, Prince Philip, had German ancestry, and the British royal House of Windsor originally stemmed from the German House of Saxe‑Coburg and Gotha.
