Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took to Instagram on Friday signaled  how deeply rooted they’ve become in American life as they celebrated the Fourth of July on Instagram.

Sharing a throwback photo with the Duke of Sussex, Meghan wrote about their second date on July 4, 2016, when Harry brought her cupcakes.

"Now, all these years later, our two children are in on the tradition," she added.

According to some observers, the Duchess of Sussex's Instagram post is a symbolic embrace of their new identity.

After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, tMeghan and Harry have increasingly built their lives in California.

From raising their children, Archie and Lilibet, to running their business ventures and charity work, Meghan and Harry now appear fully settled into American life.

However, Harry’s new home hasn’t come without challenges. The Duke remains under scrutiny from right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation, which continues to press for the release of his US visa application records.

The group alleges possible inconsistencies over Harry's admitted past drug use, questioning whether proper procedures were followed during his immigration process.

Despite legal pressures and a frosty relationship with segments of the British public, Harry has made his stance clear: he has no plans to return to the UK permanently.

In previous interviews, he said he "doesn’t feel safe" bringing his family there due to security issues, although he’s maintained he still wishes for reconciliation with his father King Charles III and brother Prince William.
