Today (July 5) marks the christening of Princess Charlotte, the second child of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Charlotte was christened at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham Estate in front of The Royal Family and her Godparents. Charlotte wore the same Christening gown worn by her big brother, Prince George.
The 2015 event was attended by members of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II, then Prince Charles and then Duchess of Cornwall Camilla, as well as members of Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and siblings Pippa and James.
St. Mary Magdalene Church was the same church where Princess Diana, was Christened in 1961. The decision to hold Charlotte’s baptism there was seen as a heartfelt tribute to Diana.
Kate Middleton looked radiant in a white Alexander McQueen coat dress, while Prince George charmed onlookers in a white shirt and red shorts — echoing a timeless royal style.
The couple selected five godparents for their daughter: Laura Fellowes, niece of the late Princess Diana; Adam Middleton, Catherine’s cousin; and close family friends Sophie Carter, James Meade, and Thomas van Straubenzee.
Below is the statement issued by the Buckingham Palace ahead of the ceremony.
